With Disney characters

My lesson plan is teaching students how to describe someone using describing words for a person’s physical traits, like height, hair length, hair color, eye color and weight etc. The first 20 minutes will be a presentation for the students giving the definition of description along with key vocabulary words for describing physical traits. It will include words that describe hair length, hair color, eye color, height and weight. The presentation will also include formatted questions so students can learn to ask questions and a format for their answers. For example what does your mother look like. Answer she has got brown eyes. She has got short, straight blonde hair. Students will learn to answer in completed sentences.

The second part involves a guessing game where I verbally give students physical descriptions of different Disney characters with pictures and based off the description and pictures they will have guess which character. Hand gestures are incorporated when giving the descriptions because it helps students remember and with words or phrases they are not familiar with. Students will also be encouraged to pick a Disney character or another character to describe. The students will either be split into groups or can do it in front the class. The descriptions of the Disney characters will also be written on a worksheet for the students to write down the answer and tell the answers once all the character descriptions have been given. A poster will be hanging with pictures and words all the vocabulary words.
